One thing that did catch me a little off guard is that this pedal is LOUD. More overtones, more classic Fender type sounds. I'm not exaggerating here- the moment I plugged it in, it was like I suddenly was hearing a wider spectrum of sound. I did a lot of online research and decided to buy the Vertex Steel String. The Goldfinger is a great platform for pedals and is modeled after more vintage amps. I play mostly Fenders and prefer slightly driven, glassy tones. I love this amp and have been slowly experimenting with various pedals to get the kind of tones and sounds I want. I had been playing through a small Vox for a couple years and bit the bullet and bought a Bogner Goldfinger 54. Ow by the way, excellent customer service, thanks again Mason and Vertex team!Ī few months ago I finally made the jump to a high-end amp. If I have to purchase this again, I would a ton more. It works really well with other pedals in the chain. This has been the tone tool I've been longing, and looking for a preamp. If your looking for gain this is not your pedal, but if your looking for tonal shaping and Dynamics of a loud 100 watt clean channel dumble amp dimed that you can reproduce on a 15 watter tube amp or direct to the board, this is your pedal. Very responsive to pickups, it brings out the character of whatever pickups you are using. Gives you that unprecedented low-end Dynamics and tightness and gives the highs thickness but retains it's sparkliness. It gives you that tonal "Halo" in which everything sounds better. It's kinda creepy how it project the tones that's coming out of it, I mean, I still can't believe it's a pedal.

As far as the sound, it is exactly how it is advertised and exactly how professional demo musicians describes it. As Mason told me it was only a cosmetic imperfections but nothing wrong with the inside for the b-stock anyway, I'm a kind of guy who likes aesthetic imperfections, it kinda gives it character. I am an owner of the ultraphonix-I love my ultraphonix-but I've been considering a cleaner version so I jump the gun on getting a b-stock steelstring when the opportunity opened up.
